It’s only 30 miles North to Harrogate. We’ll be pitched up here for quite a while and start house hunting in a couple of months.
Initial impression … well, it’s certainly upmarket. A professional town. Even the Church advises the prayers are timeboxed.
Meanwhile, across the country, Labour slides into last place across many regions, thanks to voter apathy. There’s a fair amount of representation by the BNP and alleged “independent” candidates such as the wonderful new Mayor of Doncaster, who will be trashing translation services and emphasising the need for people to “speak proper English”.
It’s all very depressing … especially when it comes to light that one of the BNP MEP’s lives in … Harrogate.
Hopefully such idiocy will pass in the next year or so … else we may be looking for a more inclusive and intelligent country.
