Siena is around 90 minutes drive through scenic Tuscany. We misjudge where to park, knowing it has to be outside the city and end up around 30 minutes walk from the centre. Though beautiful, it’s a little too touristy for us and – worse –  we experience our only disappointing Pizza of the holiday


Drive to Arezzo and train to Florence. Parking in Florence looked disastrous and the trains in Italy are ace. I get to do to the Galileo museum! Yay! This also includes some of his telescopes and … his finger… Down side of the multiple modes of transport is we don’t get back to the ranch …

Day trip to Sansepolcro, around 15 miles away. It’s home of Buitoni pasta and several prominent artists. It also includes the Resurrection by Piero della Francesca, which – apparently – is a big deal.

It’s Therese’s birthday! I don’t know how – but she didn’t noticed the birthday cards smuggled from the UK.
