Monday … I have two too many Manhattans (that’s two). With 5 units in each it’s a little much for me after Christmas.
Tuesday, Ann and Sarah come over. We eat and drink for quite a while.
Wednesday, it’s to Roarke and Naomi’s. We drink (coffee), then we’re off to Cheryl’s where we eat and drink … until 2AM. I don’t even remember the second whisky.
Thursday we’re back home and take to out beds to recover. However, we’re back out again at the neighbours for a festive hello … and some food and drink. Fortunately, we’ve drunk a lot of tea, the food is light and we pace ourselves with the wine. Asleep for midnight and ten hours sleep follows.
Certainly getting towards a pending detox now.
Christmas. Up early-ish and Therese and I open our presents. Wild mushrooms for breakfast, followed by preparing the final parts of the Christmas Dinner.
Dan and Sarah arrive late afternoon and the eating commences.
Amuse Bouche: Jellied tomato consommé with vodka and a warm vodka and star anise soaked tomato with a splash of Tabasco. Result.
Entree: Garlic soup
Second Entree : Cheese Soufflé (a tiny bit over done)
Main : Dumplings with a wild mushroom ragu (that of the famous £12 pinot noir), mulled and pickled cabbage and creamy mash.
We actually skip dessert … the cheese plate follows … though I stick to Chocolate.
Wine to match.
We’re all asleep by 10.30!
