Of snow … The boiler is working extra hard.

On my own tonight. The dreadful London “snow” leads me to the hotel’s own restaurant, Minako. Fairly good Chinese fare.
… and a great view of The City (apologies for the reflection)
As you can imagine, I need some reading material with me to avoid the sole dining being completely painful. Prince Vultan comes to the rescue.

Snow is destined for London, though it’s apparent snow is actually in Yorkshire. From the hotel, the full terror makes itself apparent. All 1cm of it.
The tube, of course, is in Chaos. Several lines are suffering delays, leading to a 15 minute trip coming in around 40 minutes.
I do like one commuter’s style though…
Therese and I are are on our way to London. The weekend snow was pretty heavy, so we’ve asked the Taxi to stop at the top of the road, rather than attempt to come down the lane.
By taxi, I mean the one I ordered last night which turned out not to be “booked” this morning when I call. No real crisis, they send another one and we’re – amazingly – on the right train, on time – with no delays.
London itself is much milder (though the BBC would suggest otherwise). After week of staying in a Holiday Inn, I need a change.
The Hilton Metropole beckons.
Nice room, and free caramel shortbread. There’s also free running water, across the ceiling. I change room just in time to collect Therese from her project’s final night out.

After some work and a visit to the dentist for the first time in 18 months, it time to head to Oxford. Despite warnings of considerable snow, it’s the most uneventful trip I can remember. A1, M18, M1, M40, A34 and no hold ups (except for that 12 mile 50mph stretch which has been in place for … years)
Another night in my usual away from home abode and by the time I’ve caught up with work again, it’s 9pm
